Comfy with a Side of Fringe

I have some exciting news…it’s Friday which means tomorrow I am hoping that you all get to lounge around in your comfiest clothing, put away your work clothes, and veg out in front of a good show. If you follow along on my Instagram, @prepofboston, you know that I have been obsessing over comfy dresses with booties or boots this fall. This dress by Z Supply has been on extreme repeat this fall and I have paired it with leggings or tights on colder days. I love how I can dress it up with a statement necklace and a blazer for a meeting or keep it super simple with just a bold lip! I also have to confess that I have totally fallen asleep in this dress at night because it is just that cozy.

I hope that you all have fun plans this weekend that include family, friends, and COMFY CLOTHING…because really those are the three most important things in life, right?

An Afternoon at the Farm

This fall has been whizzing by—I cannot believe it is almost November! I have been dying to go to a farm to go apple picking but I completely missed the peak apple picking season, however I have still been craving a fall trip to my favorite farm. So when Enterprise CarShare reached out to me to try the program, I knew exactly where I wanted to go.

My good friend and photographer, Katie (KS Photography) came with me to my favorite childhood farm, which happens to be next to my parent’s house. My dad and I have a tradition of walking over to the farm and picking out the most perfect pumpkin and although sometimes we disagree on what “perfect” means we carve the same thing every single year…stay tuned. I am hoping we will be creating our masterpiece this weekend.

Thank goodness for Enterprise CarShare: I was able to rent an SUV large enough to bring home all the pumpkins and apples my little heart could handle. Now my fall loving self is pretty “falled” out, if that’s possible. If you aren’t familiar with the program, Enterprise CarShare is a membership-based service (super easy application process) and once you are approved, you’re able to view and book vehicles in your area 24/7 (Boston has so many vehicle pickup locations all over the city).

The best part about Enterprise CarShare is that you can rent a car for an hour or overnight—it is completely up to you. My experience was absolutely seamless and I am so excited to take another trip. Enterprise CarShare is offering a special promotion for you all if you sign up via THIS link, giving you your first year of membership for $0, and you will receive $20 in driving credits by entering BLOG16 in the promo code box when you sign up!

Totes & Denim with Madewell

I know you all are probably SHOCKED to see me in white and blue but I mean what can I say?? I like what I like 🙂 What is better than a simple top and a pair of jeans matched with an oversized tote to carry all of you extra layers for the fall (and your snacks, and I guess like a wallet and keys)?? I am so in love with this look and it is so comfy and simple. It can be dressed up or down with different shoes and can be worn to football games or on a date night with some heels.

Thanks to my dad’s side of the family and their genes, I have an abnormally long torso and short little legs and therefore have a hard time finding jeans. My genes are no good for jeans apparently. This weird ratio of my top half to my bottom half means shopping in the regular section for tops and shopping in the petite section for bottoms and dresses for me. It also makes trying pants on really frustrating knowing that I will need to have them hemmed which usually makes me not buy them because who has got time to go get their pants hemmed? Not this girl, I have a hot date with Netflix I can’t be skipping out on. So, I have been searching for the perfect brand of jeans and I had come to the conclusion that the high end designers just are way too long for me…that is until I discovered Madewell denim. Their jeans are the most comfortable jeans I have ever put on my body and they have just a teeny bit of stretch so that you don’t need to unbutton that top button after dinner. These 9” high rise skinny jeans: rip and repair edition are my new go to jeans. The quality is amazing and the comfort is an 11 on a 1-10 scale. Trust me, you will be a convert the second you try these jeans on. Now, who else is ready to throw on a flannel and some knee high boots and go apple picking?

Little Red

Happy Sunday! Today I want to share this little red number I recently found. I am so not a red lover because  I think it makes me look a little washed out, BUT I made an exception and may have changed my opinion on this whole anti red thing with this dress! I LOVE it and I think it is the perfect dress for a hot day, and also will be super cute with black leggings in the fall and winter. The short loose cut makes it easy to throw on for errands, or to grab an ice cream cone. I snatched mine at one of my favorite boutiques in Boston’s North End, Injeanius. The dress is by Z Supply and trust me when I tell you it will become your new fav.

I had so much fun prancing around the North End and posing in front of my (shocker) favorite white walls with my friend, Catherine Threlkeld Photography. She is the BEST and is so fun to shoot with. Who doesn’t love shooting with someone that they feel comfortable with? I love how comfortable she makes me feel and the direction she gives–she is just awesome!! All of her information is below the photos!

Crop Top & Denim

Happy Friday! One of my favorite things my roomie and I did on our NYC trip was explore. We would go to an area of the city and just wander. I have found that that is when you find the coolest places and hidden gems! We stumbled across a couple vintage shops while in Dumbo and the cutest little boutique (we totally went in since it had AC, not going to lie). The vintage shop had so many incredible smocked dresses, I was dying. When I was a little girl I remember going through my sister’s closet because that’s where my mom kept all of our Hungarian dresses and tops. My grandfather is from Hungary and it was always so special even to just touch the beautiful fabrics. The shop also had so many fun knick knacks and items you don’t think about as coveted pieces, but there is absolutely something magical about imagining that specific card being used to play so many rounds of Go Fish, or a hotel room number tab (totally not what they’re called) that helped to open so many doors and where were those people traveling to and from? We may never know.

One of the boutiques we went to had this adorable crop top in it, I will link a similar one here. I haven’t been big into the crop top trend because I have been on the hunt for the perfect high waisted shorts to go with them and I finally found them! Finding the perfect pair of high waisted denim is a serious task. I don’t want too much showing, but I also want them to still be pretty short. I came across these denim shorts, thanks to Romwe, and I love them. They are so comfy and sort of “boyfriend” style. I love the rips in them and how casual they are! Where do you all like to get your denim shorts?

No More Lost Keys

Ok people, today, I am sharing something that ticks me off way more than it should and here is a glimpse into how crazy I really am. You may think of me as some sweet even tempered person but you may want to think again.

One of my worst nightmares is when I am just getting home to my apartment and stick my hand into my purse to pull out my keys, a simple task one would think, and a receipt from last night’s dinner, a chapstick, an eyelash curler (what?), three pairs of sunglasses, and NO keys are pulled out in the process. I then have to sit on the stoop to my apartment and search my bag when all I want to do is already be upstairs (I live on the fifth floor, so I am usually already dreading the stairs at the beginning of my street, but hey, leg days are way easier now). Anyways, this sad girl sitting on the stoop with all of her possessions on the steps is a scene I am not a fan of being a part of and I have been on the lookout for a bag that doesn’t have the Mary Poppins effect, and has easy access pockets.

Coach recently sent me this amazing purse and I haven’t used another one since opening the package. It has a center pocket that can be zipped where I keep my keys, wallet, anything valuable, and then two side pockets that are open where I keep chapstick or my sunnies. Although this purse is most definitely an investment piece it is so worth it. Get it HERE.

Travel Chic with LimoLiner

Hey guys!

My roommate and I planned a last minute trip to NYC (longer post all about our trip coming at end of this week) but I wanted to share my travel outfit with you! We traveled via LimoLiner, an AMAZING luxury bus service with round trips or one way tickets from Boston to NYC. They pick you up in either Back Bay or Framingham at the Sheraton Hotels in either location, and drop you right in Midtown in NYC! The inside of the bus is stunning, picture big cozy leather chairs but in a bus. All of the seats recline and have a foot rest…HELLO comfort and plenty of space to store a backpack and/or purse. There is space below the bus for luggage. Each bus has an attendant so you feel as though you are flying. There is drink and food service during the 4 hour trip (same time as a train ride), and you get to customize your order. I chose the cold breakfast which was donut holes, yogurt, and fresh fruit. Mid ride we received warm lemon scented towelettes to wash up which was oh so lovely. During the trip we watched The Breakfast Club on the amazing flat screen TVs, I have to give a shout out to our attendant who said he daughter had chosen that for us to watch, GREAT choice. The TVs don’t play aloud so if you are worried about being able to work (because you can, there is amazing WIFI), don’t worry at all since you have to plug your headphones into the outlet in order to hear the TV. About an hour before we got to NYC we were served snacks which included Kind bars and Cape Cod potato chips…um YUM. I cannot recommend LimoLiner more. It was such an amazing trip down here and although I don’t want to leave NYC tomorrow, I can’t wait to sit in those comfy chairs again and head back to Boston in style.

Since I knew I would be sitting for four hours, I decided I wanted to be comfy and wanted something simple to put on since we left at 6 AM, meaning wake up call at 5 AM! Just before our trip I popped into one of my favorite boutiques in Boston, Ensemble, and found this English Factory collared dress! It is absolutely adorable and my favorite colors (white and blue, with a touch of red; I am patriotic what can I say?)! Here is a similar dress to the one I am wearing below.

I discovered this brand at Ensemble months ago and it has quickly become one of my favorite affordable brands! The pieces are all made so beautifully and have such a nautical and preppy vibe so you know I am in love!  Last time I was in NYC I wore an amazing white top from them and I had a lot of questions about it, and I will link that HERE.

I hope you all are keeping cool in this crazy heat, I know that my roomie and I are staying cool with ice cream and finding shade! DSC_1080.JPGDSC_1039.JPGDSC_1086.jpg
